Are you the type of person who feels like they need a balance in their life. Are you the type of person who struggles to sit and work for long periods of time without looking at the clock. Are you the type of person who struggles with the fact that we spend all day sitting down and then arrive home and sit around watching tv. If your answer is yes to any of these questions then you need to start yoga! Here’s 3 easy steps to get you started with yoga today.
Step 1: Decide Which Yoga Style
There are lots of different styles of yoga. The classical or traditional style of yoga is Hatha Yoga. The word Hatha means force or effort. Hatha yoga consists of slow body movements and breathing techniques.
This type of yoga was practiced to prepare the body for deeper spiritual practices such as meditation. Modern styles of yoga have come about since the original style evolved.
The biggest differences are in the intensity which the style entails.
Popular yoga styles include Bikram yoga, Ashtanga yoga, Vinyasa yoga, Iyengar yoga, Hatha yoga.
Step 2: Take Your Time
Try some of the different styles and see what suits you. Try out a class or watch a video of a yoga class online. If you like it then you are one step closer to yoga. If you are not liking it, then try a different style. The worst thing that can happen is that you waste money on a yoga class you hate.
Step 3: Get a Place
Now you have got an idea of what type of yoga you are going to do, it is time to get your mat. Getting your mat is a great way to ensure you go to your yoga class. Leave your mat out at home and when it is time to go to your yoga class, make sure you go.
If you are struggling to find a class locally, don’t worry. There are now hundreds of yoga classes online. A quick google search will bring up dozens of websites which offer yoga classes online.
