There are no windows, and the children get only two hours a day outside the facility.

Employees at Casa Padre, a former Walmart that houses almost 1,500 unaccompanied migrant children in Brownsville, Texas, called the police on Sen. Located in Brownsville, Texas, across from a pizza joint and a McDonald's, it is the largest government-contracted youth shelter in the country. The company that runs the facility, Southwest Key, told the Washington Post its goal is to take care of the children.

Other presidential murals are painted on walls throughout the facility, and children are taught USA history for several hours per day-while the government bars them from joining US society. Staff at the Brownsville facility said that those places won't have to be licensed and won't be required to have licensed professionals on staff.

The children, nonetheless, spend most of their day inside a converted store, the walls of which are plastered with murals of USA presidents and quotations from them. But still, there are aspects like the few windows being covered with black mesh, according to the Times, and the fact that children can make two calls a week-perhaps to their separately detained parents-that remind visitors that the occupants are not there voluntarily.
