Pruitt's conduct and spending is the subject of about a dozen congressional and federal investigations.

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt testifies before the House Appropriations Committee during a hearing on the 2019 Fiscal Year EPA budget at the Capitol on April 26, 2018 in Washington, DC.

With a Niagara Falls-like torrent of news exposing Scott Pruitt's passion for penny-ante corruption, it can be hard to remember what evidence of his moral bankruptcy came to light last month, or even just last week. "At the very least, we know that federal ethics laws bar public officials from using their position or staff for private gain", the Democrats wrote to Wray and Cronan.

Ryan Jackson, Pruitt's chief of staff, now is the only one of five staffers known to have been requested to appear before the House Oversight panel to remain on Pruitt's staff.

"While I will deeply cherish my time serving in the Trump administration, I am excited for the opportunity to return to my home state to once again serve the people of Oklahoma".

Virginia Canter, an ethics counsel for the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, said there were a "number of criminal conflict of interest statutes and regulations" that could be brought into play by Pruitt speaking at events that he or his family had received payment for.
