It's mad to think that at a point earlier this season, the four horsemen of the British managerial merry-go-round apocalypse - that is Alan Pardew, David Moyes, Roy Hodgson and Sam Allardyce - all had jobs at the helm of Premier League clubs.

A statement on West Ham's website confirming Moyes's departure said the club wanted to take a "different direction".

But with plenty of unrest behind-the-scenes amid fan protests against the owners which sparked pitch invasions during the season, there are a lot of issues for West Ham's hierarchy to sort out.

However, despite keeping West Ham safe, Sullivan said Moyes was only regarded as a short-term fix.
