Manchester City won their fifth Premier League title on Sunday as West Bromwich Albion (WBA) beat their nearest rivals Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford.

Manchester City have been confirmed as Premier League champions after Manchester United suffered a shock home defeat to West Brom on Sunday.

A week after City surrendered a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 to United and squander the chance to wrap up the title in ideal style against their arch-rivals, it was relegation-bound West Brom who served it up on a plate.

"You can not imagine", Guardiola said on Saturday before the title race was decided.

"We are just trying to improve a little bit more, to give sequence to it.

We are not going to do anything insane", said Mourinho. "Very happy to call us champions this year".

"We were masters in complication".

"I trust in my work, that is for sure". Six years later, the finale was much more underwhelming, with Rodriguez nodding in from a corner to silence the majority of Old Trafford and set up one of the most surprising wins of the season.

To make matters worse for Saints, Huddersfield and Crystal Palace secured vital wins later in the day to leave Southampton five points adrift of safety with just five games left to save themselves.
