Penguins expect Flyers to respond to rout

The battle for Pennsylvania will be one of the most entertaining series. Here are a few of them. I look for another easy win by the Penguins in this one.

The Vegas Golden Knights have set all kinds of historical marks this season, standing head and shoulders above any expansion team from any sport that has come before it. The teams split their season series at two games apiece. The Avalanche have nothing to lose - considering they weren't expected to make the playoffs - and this could factor into how serious the Preds take them. Jumbo Joe may be getting older, but his playoff experience would be a huge boost for his team. With 51 wins in the regular season, the Golden Knights won the Pacific Division and a date with the Los Angeles Kings in Round 1 of the playoffs.

Their biggest wild card might just be their young roster who may have trouble adjusting to playoff hockey. "We would expect that they would respond appropriately".

"You never know what can happen", Crosby said.

Storyline: Will whoever steals home-ice advantage win the series?

There was certainly some risk that Elliott would struggle in those games, games the Flyers still needed to win in order to clinch a playoff berth.

Major Ice Storm Could Hit Mississauga This Weekend
An ice storm sweeping through southern Ontario could down power lines, delay flights and lead to unsafe driving conditions. The combination of heavy freezing rain and strong winds could bring down power lines and tree limbs around the area.

Their best (and probably only) chance at abruptly and unexpectedly ending the Penguins' quest for a Stanley Cup three-peat is if Elliott regains the level of play he displayed before leaving the lineup due to a core muscle injury. Minnesota wasn't too far behind going 27-6-8 at Xcel Energy Center.

The reason for the Capitals' playoff disappointments in recent years has been the fact that they have to go through Pittsburgh in the second round. Two teams feeling each other out for what promises to be a long, physical series. John Gibson was a top 10 goalie this season, while Martin Jones was about league average. This series could be a pitchers duel (or goaltenders duel) between these two combatants, allowing for every game to be even more exciting. The Lightning may have the deepest offense in the league, led by Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos.

New Jersey at Tampa Bay, 6 p.m.

Storyline: Which goalie will overcome their playoff demons? Crosby himself made a couple errant passes, one of which allowed the Flyers to generate their best offensive pressure of the game. Neither goalie has been all that consistent this season. One of these teams will move on, and it will be because their netminder finally stepped up and showed the confidence and mental toughness it takes.

"Since we launched our live TV package, we've seen live sports drive a very large part of our growth, so we are especially excited to team up with the National Hockey League to celebrate the 2018 Stanley Cup play-offs", added Patrizio Spagnoletto, head of media and subscriber growth at Hulu.

Storyline: Will history from five years ago repeat itself? Look closer, however, and things are tighter than they seem. Carried by vets who have been around for the Kings' Stanley Cup years - like Jonathan Quick, Anze Kopitar, and Dustin Brown - don't be surprised to see the Kings pull off the first round upset. A series of this magnitude has a "slobber knocker" ring to it.

Former aide to Gov. Scott killed in boating accident
Democratic political strategist Steve Schale predicted the race would be close and that Trump's popularity could play a role. Janson Manso is also a supporter of President Trump and would like to see Scott in the Senate to support him.

Tomas Tatar had four goals and six points in 20 games with Vegas, which landed him in a deal with Detroit.

The Flyers couldn't beat the two-time defending champs this season, losing in all four meetings.

The Flyers had another crack at the Penguins in the 2009 playoffs.

The Philadelphia Flyers were absolutely run out of the building in Game 1 of their opening round playoff series with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday night. My dream is to become a sports journalist.

But if Flyers fans really want to see Sidney Crosby dethroned the way the Eagles dethroned Tom Brady, they better hope Provorov, Gostisbehere and Elliott bring their A-plus games for the net two weeks.
