More snow expected Friday evening

Forecasts from the National Weather Service show there's a chance of snow during the Friday morning commute, with early models indicating up to 6 inches could accumulate in western MA. "Right now, we think that's going to be mainly up into Virginia".

Accumulating snow is possible on Friday too.

In the metro area, rain and snow are likely with the high falling to around 30 by late afternoon and northwest winds gusting as high as 35 miles per hour. The mercury will only top out in the upper 20s and winds will be about 10 to 18 miles per hour.

Early April snow is rare around North Carolina but not unheard of, Gardner said.

While Saturday will be mostly sunny, temperatures will remain in the upper 30s.

This unsettled weather pattern, with chances of precipitation and below average temperatures will continue through the weekend.
