Winter Weather Advisories for first day of Spring

The National Weather Service said the storm could bring accumulating snow to coastal MA on Wednesday night into Thursday morning, along with wind gusts as high as 50 miles per hour.

A winter weather advisory is possible, forecasters said. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Snowfall accumulations are, as typical, especially for this time of year, very tentative to project and likely to be quite variable around our region.

Much of Eastern Massachusetts is expected to see the highest snow totals, 8 to 12 inches.

There has been uncertainty the last several days surrounding the snowfall potential along the Interstate 95 corridor in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast, but recent guidance has trended towards a snowier forecast. Now, most of the weather models are agreeing that this will probably not be the case.

At times snowfall may be heavy, making for hard travel conditions, the weather agency warns.

Any of this can be overcome if heavy snow bands set up over a particular location for an hour or two, sufficient to slush up and even cover roads quickly if the fall rate overcomes the melt rate. The storm is expected to gather momentum as each day progresses, and Philadelphia residents are recommended to plan for travel inconveniences.

The risk of accumulating snow from nor'easter #4 is increasing. "We're going to have to flip the calendar into April".
