Riyad Mahrez has said it would have been "a good move" had he completed a switch to Manchester City, and did not rule out leaving Leicester City in the summer.

"I was away from here because I needed some time to think, it was a hard situation", he added."Manchester City is a good move for everyone but it is the past. But at the moment I'm a Leicester player and all is good here".

Mahrez was reportedly the subject of four January bids by Pep Guardiola's side, who have a 16-point lead at the top of the table.

"Manchester City is a good move for everyone, but it's the past".

Leicester City midfielder Riyad Mahrez refused on Thursday to quash speculation surrounding his future but did say he maintains a good relationship with the club. I have always been in contact with the club.

The Algerian is now exclusively focused on helping his side in the remaining games of the season, but declined to comment on his future, insisting he will not make speak on his decision until the end of the current campaign. I really don't want to talk about this, because it's behind me. If we start talking about this it's like coming back to the transfer window and now I'm moving forward, trying to give my best for the team. It was up to me to keep him here for the club, and for me to try to sort it out, protect Riyad and the club.

Mahrez has also been linked with Chelsea and Arsenal.

Mahrez described the period as a "difficult" time, explaining that his decision to stay away from training was to allow him to get things straight in his own head, praising Leicester and his teammates for their handling of the situation.

"It won't affect me so I don't know why they tried to do that". It was a hard situation but we've moved on now - everyone, the club, the team, me.
