Gen. Rod Rosenstein, plans to leave her post after nine months on the job, the New York Times reported late Friday. "She will always remain part of the Department of Justice family".

As associate attorney general, Brand would have been next to oversee the special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election, in the absence of deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein. She also introduced Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who in turn praised Brand for her "strong leadership as our third in command at the department".

Sessions applauded Brand for her service to the DOJ, calling her "a lawyer's lawyer".

Newly Discovered Asteroid to 'Skim' Past Earth Today
Called asteroid 2018 CB, the space rock will shave by our planet at around 2230 GMT, the United States space agency said. NASA said 2018 CB will safely pass the Earth at a distance of 39,000 miles, pretty close by space standards.

The number three official at the Justice Department, a Pella Christian graduate, has resigned.

The official did not know when Brand would be leaving, but told BuzzFeed News that she had been offered a job in the private sector. She was previously President George W. Bush's assistant attorney general for the Office of Legal Policy, which develops and implements the department's significant policy initiatives. Trump called the matter "a disgrace". A source said she was going to work as an executive at retailer Walmart.

Brand will be taking the role of head of global corporate governance with the world's largest corporation.

Swat, a tourist spot located in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa , is also known as the "Switzerland of Pakistan". The injured were later shifted by rescue officials to a hospital in Saidu Sharif area of Swat, according to government sources.

"We are fortunate to have a leader of Rachel Brand's stature join the company", Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said in a statement.

But her departure raises the possibility that her role could be filled by a Trump partisan who may end up playing an essential role in the Russian Federation investigation.

Brand on Friday lauded Sessions' "commitment to the rule of law".

If Rosenstein had been fired or quit, oversight of Mueller's investigation would have fallen to Brand. That memo states that the person next in line is Solicitor General Noel Francisco. "I'm certain that she'll do great things going forward and will be in public service again in the near future". Her appointment was confirmed 52-46 by the U.S. Senate. Some have feared that the president will use the controversial memo by Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), which alleged abuse of power at the Federal Bureau of Investigation and DOJ, to terminate Rosenstein - which Democrats warned would spark a "constitutional crisis". Her job as associate deputy AG entailed overseeing the civil rights and antitrust divisions of the DOJ.
