Chairman Brian Breslin asked state Attorney General Bill Schuette to appoint an independent third party to investigate the school as soon as possible to see whether any other employees at Michigan State were complicit in allowing serial sexual predator Larry Nassar to abuse girls and young women on campus for almost two decades.

Michigan State is one of several co-defendants in civil lawsuits that allege the university and others shirked their responsibility to stop Nassar when given opportunities to do so.

Students say the discussion about the sexual assault problem on campus is long overdue.

'Because I care, ' Hollis said, holding back tears.

"I think what Nassar did was egregious, terrible, awful, worse than paying a prospect to come to your school, worse than a shoe company paying a player to come to your school, worse than academic fraud", said Josephine Potuto, a law professor at Nebraska and a former chair of the NCAA infractions committee. His sentencing phase took seven days and 150 females testified in court what Nassar did to them, including when some of them were minors, as young as 6.

In a Twitter post Friday, university trustee Mitch Lyons expressed regret that the school had failed to respond appropriately.

Students at the East Lansing school are planning a Friday evening march and protest.

"Since my first day on the job as athletic director, my focus has always been on the student-athlete", Hollis previously said on Wednesday.

During the brief press conference, the sheriff said he was going against normal protocols to release this information. Paddock also googled "How tall is Mandalay Bay " by his Dell laptop , the report said.

"As tragedies are politicized, blame is inevitable", Simon wrote in her resignation letter.

Michigan State's Board of Trustees will gather Friday for a "work session", according to school spokesman Jason Cody.

"As a first measure, we request that Michigan State send information to the NCAA in a timely manner, to the attention of Vice President Jon Duncan, regarding any potential violations of NCAA legislation as a self-report as outlined above". They seek more changes.

"What will be determined is if these administrators were simply more interested in protecting their brand or protecting the student-athletes and what, in fact, was done", Gurney said. "The second version reveals MSU's additional undisclosed findings that Nassar's 'sensitive procedures, is opening up the practice (MSU Sports Medicine Clinic) to liability and is exposing patients to unnecessary trauma...' MSU's disgraceful actions enabled Nassar's egregious and destructive abuse of girls to continue after my client so bravely reported him to MSU". When she told the then MSU head gymnastics coach, Kathie Klages, she was told it was just a misunderstanding.
