The Post reported that James and Betty Turpin, David Turpin's parents, said the couple was very religious, and had many children for that reason.

David Allen Turpin, 57, and Louise Anna Turpin, 49, were both arrested at their home in Perris, California on Sunday after their 17-year-old daughter managed to escape and call 911. The bail was set at $9 million for each.

The parents were unable to provide any logical explanation for why they were being restrained.

The officers were shocked to discover that seven of the captives were actually adults, ranging in age from 18 to 29.

The 13 victims ranged in age from 2 to 29, authorities said, and all were interviewed by officers. The West Virginia-based grandparents said that the children were given "very strict homeschooling" and that they would memorize long Bible passages.

The OEM noted that the Ranger will incorporate a range of driver-assist, passenger convenience, and connectivity technologies. At the North American International Auto Show the updated pickup truck was on display alongside the new Ford Edge ST.

All thirteen children were sent to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

The Turpins filed for bankruptcy that same year, stating in court documents that they owed between $100,000 and $500,000.

David Turpin's job was listed as an engineer with Lockheed Martin, according to online records.

Milligan was quoted by Reuters as saying that two years ago around Christmas she saw three of the older Turpin children outside and complimented them on a Nativity scene outside their house. "They're very cooperative, and I believe they are hopeful that life will get better for them".

The couple's children joined them for the 2013 and 2015 renewals.

Britain's Princess Charlotte, just 2 years old, speaks Spanish
People Magazine also reported that little Charlotte is "very polite, but also fun and energetic" and has "beautiful manners". It has also been revealed why Charlotte won't attend the same nursery as her older brother did.

Turpin said he first heard about the matter Monday night in a call from a reporter.

"The older kids, I thought they were like 12 because they looked so malnourished, so pale". I haven't seen her in 19 years.

The home where the discovery was made is on a cul-de-sac in residential area of Perris, about 60 miles east-southeast of downtown Los Angeles and 19 miles south-southeast from downtown Riverside.

Mr Turpin senior said all 13 children were his son's biological offspring and none were adopted.

However, with so many children and his wife not working, records suggest his expenses exceeded his income. "You know something is off, but you don't want to think bad of people".

Photos on a Facebook page that appeared to be created by the parents showed the couple at Disneyland with the children wearing matching shirts. They appear to have renewed their vows several times in recent years, in 2011, 2013 and 2015. But each shirt is numbered for every sibling, so there's Thing 3, Thing 4, Thing 5 and so on, all the way to Thing 13.
