Voters Wary of Trump, Confident in Economy

Americans by an nearly 8 to 1 margin - 79 percent - think Dreamers should be allowed to remain in the country and apply for citizenship - putting most voters at odds with GOP immigration hardliners in Congress and the Trump administration, a new Quinnipiac poll said Thursday. "Something noble about the presidency", former CBS news anchor Dan Rather told Salon in November.

The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 percentage points.

While almost 70 per cent of voters feel Trump is not "level headed", 53 per cent feel the president is "intelligent" compared to the 44 per cent who said he's not "intelligent" and the 28 per cent who said he's "level headed". Fifty-seven percent said he is not fit to serve as president, compared to 40 percent who say he is. Sixty-five percent said Trump does not share their values.

At the same time, 59 percent of respondents said that Trump doesn't care about average Americans.

Friends said private discussions had been ongoing for months, adding that she was "actively thinking" about running for President. Just days into 2018, the race for the USA presidency in 2020 is already making headlines.

Meanwhile, 33 percent said they saw the economy as "not so good" or "poor".

Thirty-seven percent of respondents said Trump's policies are helping the nation's economy, while 29 percent said he is hurting the economy, and 30 percent said the administration's policies are not making a difference.
