Winter storm taking aim at upper Midwest

On Friday there is a slight chance of rain and snow in the morning. A swath of snow will fall in the cold air, driven by strong winds.

Several rain showers are expected Thursday night into Friday.

Late Wednesday, the changing weather will begin with scattered showers, drizzle and fog expanding across Central Iowa.

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for West Tennessee, much of Northeastern Arkansas, and the counties that border Tennessee in north Mississippi. Stay tuned for more updates as we get them. California's Mammoth Mountain and Bear have been reporting new snowfall, as well as Mt. Bachelor and Hood. We are showing which areas have the best chance.

Friday: Snow likely, mainly before noon.

MONDAY: Partly cloudy with increasing clouds. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. This could lead to blowing and drifting of snow. Paul and Omaha, Nebraska, potentially leading to travel disruptions.
