IMA protest call: Pvt health services in Goa may hit tomorrow

Protesting the decision on formation of the Medical Commission, Indian Medical Association (IMA), Telangana chapter has declared Tuesday as a "Black Day" and has called all private and corporate hospitals in Hyderabad and elsewhere to suspend their routine medical services, excluding emergencies, for 12 hours between 6 am and 6 pm.

Emergency services have not been affected.

While doctors in government hospitals will continue their services, they will observe a "Black Day" by wearing a black arm band as their way of participating in the strike. The Bill was anti-people as it promoted unscientific mixing of medical systems.

Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Nathaniel Clyne and Sadio Mane have all made the same switch in recent years. An official announcement from both clubs has been made with the deal to be concluded on January 1.

However, the services in state-run hospitals, including the Goa Medical College, would remain unaffected as the Goa Association of Resident Doctors (GARD) have decided against shutting down OPDs.

The association, the country's professional body of doctors, is at the forefront of the protest against the draft bill arguing that it will seriously impede the democratic functioning of the profession.

The bill is likely to come up for discussion in Parliament on Tuesday. The IMA called the move anti-people.

Dr Pednekar said NMC is a pro-private management bill "which will pave the way for widespread corruption". To clear one more exam after four years of graduation is a burden on the students, he said.
