The book has received a lot of critical acclaim, but, as I said, it's tricky to figure out how an adaptation is likely to leave things in the end.

Written for the screen and directed by Alex Garland, the film is based on the Novel by Jeff VanderMeer ($10 on Amazon). You may remember Garland from his work on films like "Ex Machina", with Alicia Vikander, Domhnall Gleeson, and Oscar Isaac, and the thriller "28 Days Later" with Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris, and Christopher Eccleston. Natalie Portman, always wonderful in everything, taking on the lead role is another promising sign.

Area X has been cut off from the rest of the continent for decades.

Evangelicals: The Real Reason behind Trump's Jerusalem Move
In September 2016, during the general election campaign, Trump released a doctor's note that included some medical information. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, who is Jewish, was also at the reception, donning a kippah.

This new trailer combines lovely landscapes shots with legitimately jumpy moments.

A teaser trailer for the film came out in September, but the trailer reveals more of the terrors waiting for Portman and crew, including what seem to be creepily crossbred animals, such as a shark-crocodile mix.

Here we get to see Portman's character trying to find out what has happened to her husband. This prompts Natalie Portman, the Biologist, to seek out answers herself.

Annihilation is about a group of scientists - played by Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gina Rodriguez, Tessa Thompson, and Tuva Novotny - who explore a unusual part of world where "occurrences" happen. Though it should be noted that author VanderMeer is by no means a biologist.

It was reported last week that Paramount is finalizing a deal for Netflix to take over the worldwide distribution of Annihilation, with Paramount still handling the film's theatrical release in the U.S., Canada, and China.

Annihilation - which also stars Oscar Isaac - comes out February 23, 2018. Apparently, Netflix has obtained the global rights to Annihilation and it will air on the streaming service seventeen days after its USA premiere in worldwide markets.
