The pitch curator for Wednesday's match between India and New Zealand in Pune allegedly passed on information about the strip to reporters posing as bookies and showed willingness to tweak the track, an undercover investigation by India Today has revealed. "As of now, the BCCI curator from Mumbai has been asked to take charge of the ground", Khanna said, adding: "I have written to Neeraj Kumar (BCCI's Anti Corruption & Security Unit chief) and the MCA has been asked to submit reports". "At BCCI, we reiterate that we have zero tolerance towards any corrupt activity", BCCI acting Secretary Amitabh Chaudhary told. BCCI CEO Rahul Johri said in the release: "Strict action has been taken against the pitch curator and the employment relationship between Salgaonkar and MCA stands terminated". Incidentally, earlier this year in February, the pitch in question was rated "poor" by ICC match referee Chris Board after the first Test between India and Australia.

It is not clear how Salgaoncar, a former pacer and one-time India prospect, could have tweaked the pitch with just a few hours to go before the match. Apte also informed that Salgaoncar has been suspended with immediate effect and MCA has withdrawn his membership as well. Pitch condition is good and there is more chance to score more runs as the boundaries are short. An inquiry Commission will also be constituted by MCA. However, Salgaonkar even allowed them to look at the pitch ahead of the India match.
