Nintendo 3DS XL SNES Classic edition

It's an alternative to those that missed out on the SNES Classic console.

In a surprise announcement that is sure to excited all those classic Nintendo lovers, Nintendo has announced a limited-edition 3DS XL in the style of the Super NES. To sweeten the deal, Nintendo will be throwing in a download code for everyone's favorite racing game Super Mario Kart.

It's available to pre-order now, and currently appears to be eligible for worldwide shipping, should anyone wish to reunite their European SNES 3DS XL with its no-nonsense sibling.

If you don't have any 3DS games yet, you'll still be able to have some fun with the New 3DS XL. However, these are only playable if you own a New Nintendo 3DS XL due to the extra CPU boost. However, as with other New 3DS XL units, you must purchase a separate AC adapter. The SNES Classic, launched this year, is already a hit with a series of built-in games and striking new features such as rewind and replay options. The bigger issue for Nintendo is selling this $200 3DS XL when the 2DS XL only costs $150. The U.S. version will sport the classic blue and grey motif.
