"The contract extension culminates what had been two often-turbulent seasons between Aldridge and the Spurs since his arrival as a free agent from Portland". After a poor postseason and a reported disagreement with head coach Gregg Popovich, Aldridge was subject to criticism, leading to trade talks this off-season.

Aldridge agreed to a three-year, $72.3 million contract extension Monday with the Spurs, Shams Charania of The Vertical reports. Maybe, that's why San Antonio is engaging in extension conversations. Despite his struggles the past two seasons, Aldridge would enter Spurs camp in the usual professional manner.

Lighthizer Slams Canada and Mexico for Refusing to Accept NAFTA Reforms
They have also put forward a clause, called "twilight" that could put an end to the NAFTA by five years. Trump has threatened to terminate the trade agreement if Canada and Mexico do not agree to his demands.

On the floor, things won't change significantly for Aldridge - there just will be more of it. Post-ups and pick-and-pop mid-range jumpers in even larger portions than in previous seasons are on the menu in San Antonio this year. That was to be expected in San Antonio's system, which emphasizes ball movement and tries to limit minutes to keep veterans fresh for the postseason.

He also struggled big time in the Western Conference Finals, averaging 15.5 points on 41 percent shooting with 10 turnovers in the four-game sweep against Golden State. The extension means Aldridge will actually take a pay cut for the 2017-18 season and earn US$21.4 million.

LaMarcus Aldridge averaged a career-low tally of 17.3 points and 7.3 rebounds for the Spurs last season.

Aldridge said he feels better about his game and the adjustments that have been made in the offense.
