Terrorist attack on BSF camp in Srinagar: JeM claims responsibility

"It appears that JeM terrorists had conducted a recce of the airport to carry out a spectacular attack there and grab worldwide attention, but since they couldn't find a way to breach the airport security, they chose to attack the BSF camp", said an officer.

A couple of militants have reportedly attacked the Border Security Force (BSF) camp near Srinagar International Airport at Gogo Humhama on Tuesday morning.

The attackers are still on the camp's premises, holed up in a building, BSF officials said. "Due to the lack of security in the funnel area of the airport the night landing of civilian flights couldn't be carried out", said officials.

Khan, who heads the police force in the Kashmir Valley, denied that there had been a security breach that led to the attack.

All morning flights to and from Srinagar airport were cancelled. Decision of resuming air traffic will be taken by Airports Authority of India and concerned airlines, reported ANI.
