Jose is still rotating some broken cloud cover back over the state of CT this morning.

The National Hurricane Center says the storm could impact the US East Coast in the coming days.

Reports from a NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate that maximum sustained winds are now near 110 miles per hour (175 km/h) with higher gusts.

Unlike Jose, Maria will encounter a strong jet stream over New England which should force the east into the Atlantic Ocean quickly.

THE Atlantic hurricane season is so bad weathermen could run out of storm names - with this year threatening to be the second-worst tropical storm season since records began 166 years ago.

Hurricane Maria is turning further to the north on its track, according to the National Hurricane Center.

SURF: Swells generated by Maria are increasing along portions of the southeastern United States coast and Bermuda and will be increasing along the Mid-Atlantic coast later today.

Locally, we have two possible impacts from Maria we'll be watching.

Tropical systems "feel" weak spots in the atmosphere in the absence of strong steering currents, and Jose is providing a weakness between a big eastern USA area of high pressure and one out over the Atlantic. The northeasterly flow will diminish and this will allow temperatures to rise well above normal. It'll still be a bit breezy, which is nice.

What helped though is that the humidity was nice and low. It could be close! The old was 89 degrees in 1959.

We'll have sunny skies for the Browns vs. Colts game. Sunny and rain-free conditions continue through Thursday with afternoon highs in the lower 90s and feeling more like summer than fall. Winds will be fairly light.

The hurricane center said forecast models agree on this general scenario but differ on the timing and location of that curve.

It will be mostly sunny Monday with a 20 percent chance of rain.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be dry and warm as well, although a few showers can't be ruled out by midweek. We'll give you the tools you need to be "Weather Smart!" We'll go from seeing high temperatures near 90 at the start of this week to highs in the 70s by the end of the week.
