Irma Weakens to Tropical Storm as It Heads Inland

Hurricane Irma broke records for sustaining 185mph winds for 37 hours.

- Miami streets turned into raging rivers, and the city's airport is closed because of significant water damage.

Now the entire Georgia coast is under a storm surge warning as Irma continues its destructive march north.

Irma, once ranked as one of the most powerful hurricanes recorded in the Atlantic, came ashore in Florida as a category four storm on Sunday and battered towns as it worked its way up the state. The storm gradually lost strength, weakening to a Category 1 hurricane by Monday morning. It could be many weeks before all customers are restored.

So far, few images of the damage have popped up, as the storm takes its final breaths on Florida.

The Miami waterfront, as well as the islands that make up the city, are used to flooding because much of the city is low lying and facing rising sea levels.
