The stockpile of heavy water is also below the agreed limits, the IAEA said, according to journalists shown the agency's latest quarterly report on Iran's nuclear activities.

Iran is honoring the terms of the landmark 2015 nuclear accord, the United Nations atomic watchdog said in its latest quarterly assessment today, according to news agencies that obtained the confidential six-page report.

President Donald Trump and his Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley are both making false accusations against Iran to justify breaking the nuclear agreement that Tehran is honoring, the National Iranian American Council (NIAC) said in a statement.

The announcement comes in response to recent meetings between IAEA officials and the USA ambassador to the U.N., Nikki Haley, who echoed White House concerns that Iran may be cheating on the deal by continuing nuclear production in off-limits military sights.

The report comes at a critical time, as Mr Trump has threatened to withhold his certification of Iranian compliance when he is next required to report to Congress in mid-October. Trump told The Wall Street Journal in July that he "did not expect" to declare Iran compliant in the coming months, despite a lack of public evidence of any Iranian violations.

"If they want to bring down the deal, they will", an IAEA official told Reuters, referring to the Trump administration. "We just don't want to give them an excuse to".

A United States pullout could effectively kill the agreement, and lead Iran to quickly ramp up programs that could be used to make weapons. "The IAEA, US intelligence community and our allies in the P5+1 have all affirmed Iran's compliance". The deal saw Iran cap its nuclear activities in return for lifting of crippling sanctions.

Trump has ordered a review of the accord, negotiated under his predecessor Barack Obama, and allies including France fear Washington could renege on the deal in some way and risk Iranian retaliation, escalating instability in the Middle East.
