With their first practice of training camp less than 24 hours away, the Buffalo Bills shook up their quarterback depth chart by trading Cardale Jones to the Los Angeles Chargers for a conditional draft pick.

ESPN reported that the conditional pick is for the seventh round. However, it's probably more complicated than it seems.

The Buffalo Bills made a decision to part ways with Jones for what was originally reported as a "late" conditional pick according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, who was the first to report on the transaction Wednesday. It seems pretty amicable.

"When the Bills brought Cardale Jones in to tell him he was traded to the Chargers, he began crying", Schefter said.

Jones, a second-year player out of Ohio State University, was originally selected by Buffalo in the fourth round (139th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Jones tweeted his gratitude to the Bills Organization and fans for their support during his time with the team.

New York Times Demands Apology From Fox News
On Sunday, the Times pushed back. "With this segment, Fox & Friends demonstrated what little regard it has for reporting facts". She said the online story was changed to reflect comment from the Times after the newspaper reached out.

Jones is familiar with new Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn, who was the Bills' head coach at the end of last season.

The Ohio State product went 6-11 with 96 yards and an interception. Buffalo is now left with Peterman, starter Tyrod Taylor and veteran backup T.J. Yates, whom the team signed this offseason, at quarterback.

Although Jones had strong support from former Bills General Manager Doug Whaley, at least one former assistant coach on the team was known to have had major questions about Jones' maturity and dedication. Jones was drafted in the fourth round past year but that was under head coach Rex Ryan.
