Anthony to forfeit trade kicker if dealt to Rockets

Before the rumors that the Oklahoma City Thunder had jumped into the mix, there were only two teams considered to be in close consideration for Carmelo Anthony - the Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers.

That latter option could possibly be taking shape, as Bill Simmons of The Ringer reports Anthony has some interest in potentially joining the Thunder.

The franchise recently added All Star forward Paul George via trade as they continue their post-Kevin Durant rebuild, while also looking to convince league MVP Russell Westbrook into staying with the team once his contract expires at the conclusion of the 2017/18 season.

The potential Anthony move to OKC was initially mooted via a tweet from respected National Basketball Association pundit Bill Simmons who now has his own sports and culture website, The Ringer.

Kyrie Irving remains the wild card. This is the primary reason the Rockets and Knicks haven't come to terms on a Carmelo Anthony trade.

And it is this trust which has reported the loss of this paperwork, which documents the chain of ownership for these loans. That's a big number, but it accounts for a relatively small fraction of overall USA student debt.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN said on "The Jump" earlier this week that Anthony is willing to waive the $8 million trade kicker in his contract if the New York Knicks and Rockets can agree to a deal.

Anthony's desire to play for the Rockets is due in large part to the presence of two All-NBA mainstays: James Harden and Chris Paul. Other than the ability to match up salaries and potentially get Anthony's blessing, the Thunder are far from an ideal trade partner for NY. But the Knicks have made it clear that they aren't going to accept a deal in which they simply give Anthony away. Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis were sent to the Pacers in the George deal.

But don't look for the Thunder to sacrifice Adams for what would be a major gamble in Anthony.

Last year, Anthony and the Knicks missed the playoffs for the third straight season.
