Barty, 21, reached her first grass-court final after fighting back to win 3-6 6-4 6-3 against 2016 French Open champion Garbine Muguruza.

The tournament's other Grand Slam victor, Muguruza, reached the semifinals for only her third time this year and the first on grass since reaching the final of Wimbledon almost two years ago.

Barty, who reached the final starting from qualifications, had defeated players such as Barbora Strycova and Garbiñe Muguruza on her way to the final; but, after winning the first set, she could little against an opponent who took total control of the match.

Mladenovic's serve at 5-6 looked good enough to win the point and draw her level again, with Kvitova's return appearing about to slide wide.

If the last part of the set saw a more balanced game than the beginning, as the second set started the momentum seemed to switch from Barty to Kvitova, who found far more consistency on return games than she showed in the first part of the match, while the Australian failed to be as incisive with her first serve as she had been before.

It took a second-set tiebreak and one hour 43 minutes for Kvitova to secure the win which sets up a semi-final clash with compatriot Lucie Safarova.

"I couldn't have imagined having a better comeback than I am having now".

"The hand is good, which is the best news I could have", she said.

After losing her service game at the start of the second set, Safarova shook hands and departed.

"I'm obviously I'm in a very different place".

Kvitova looked close to her best against Fed Cup team-mate and close friend Safarova, who was carrying the injury into the match. Paris was a bit weird and unusual and I couldn't play the best over there.

"I'm pleased with how I am playing".

Kvitova was leading 6-1, 1-0.

But on Friday was Kvitova's turn to receive the applause, as she revealed that many parts of her incisive grass court game are in working order and that many things may still be possible despite enduring problems with the injured hand. "She's making the game, changing direction a lot, slice, some volleys, drop shots".

The measure also would apply terrorism sanctions to the country's Revolutionary Guards and enforce an arms embargo. However, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson seemed to push back at the legislation Wednesday at a House hearing.

"I think she played very well", Muguruza said of Barty in her post-match press conference. "It's very frustrating because she was playing a great match". Broady commented on her speed not just laterally but up to short balls which she then just nails. I played four matches already, so it's a good record and good preparation for the final.
