While the Xbox One X reveal understandably dominated the headlines from Microsoft's E3 press conference, the software giant made another huge announcement: Minecraft is going cross-platform.

In short, all versions of Minecraft, including for Nintendo Switch, will support crossplay, allowing users of different platforms to play together.

Minecraft is getting cross-platform support for mobile devices, Nintendo Switch, VR, Windows 10 PCs, and gaming consoles with a new update. The other update comes in the form of unlimited land to explore.

The Minecraft Better Together update will launch in the summer for all systems and the Super Duper Graphics Pack will launch this fall. The only exception to Minecraft is the Minecraft: Java Edition, which is the original game which was brought out for PCs.

Pocket Edition and Xbox One are both catching up. If this truly is Sony holding out because the cross-platform play might give Microsoft a financial boost, then maybe Sony isn't really "for the players" after all.

More servers will be added as Mojang ramps the services up to allow players to enjoy multiplayer "Minecraft" with new mini-games and worlds to craft in with their friends. For those who already own Minecraft on mobile or VR devices, they will get the free update in the summer. Additionally any content that is purchased on older versions of the game, will be available across devices. Logging in to privately-run servers is very popular, because enterprising players and groups can run servers that turn the game into anything from arena combat simulators to mystery games.

"Minecraft will get 4K HDR graphics which include improved lighting, shadows, water effects. basically, it'll be like giving your eyes a luxury massage", Stone explained.

Everything Known About Human History Just Got An Adjustment Of Sorts
With few fossil remains to work with, the evolutionary history of modern humans is full of holes and relies heavily on conjecture. But given their modern-looking face and teeth, Hublin said, these people may have blended in today if they simply wore a hat.
