Covfefe: When a typo goes viral

Perhaps a new word will enter the lexicon after President Trump tweeted it in a freaky post just after midnight Wednesday.

Several hours after the fact, Trump capitulated to Twitter's sick burns and deleted his original "covfefe" tweet.

A figure named Covfefe the Strong used a new Twitter account to announce, "I have been summoned to this world". The palm of the best answer goes to a certain Nick Jack Pappas: " Covfefe: When you do something stupid but pretend that you knew very well what you were doing.

Trump tweeted shortly before 1 a.m. that "Despite the constant negative press covfefe".

At 0910 GMT Trump's "covfefe" tweet had more than 120,000 retweets and had been shared 39,000 times, according to Twitter figures.

For those of you who were asleep during this six-hour window, the meaning and import of the tweet is not clear. Will Donald Trump taste the joke?

Another suggested "covfefe" was becoming a popular name for babies in states that voted for Trump.

It was a week filled with late-breaking news unflattering to President Donald Trump , who much of the network's audience supports. But the new lineup could not withstand a news cycle that was likely tough for its Trump-supporting conservative viewers to watch.

Late-night television host Jimmy Kimmel, a comedian who writes jokes for a living, was sad about "covfefe".

Mind you, we're talking about assorted Media Twitter here, so it goes without saying that none of these memes are good or amusing. Merriam-Webster also weighed in with a tweet.

Heck, one guy got the custom "covfefe" license plate!

Covfefe is not now a word in the Merriam-Webster dictionary.
