James Spann: Rain ends late tonight; dry weekend ahead for Alabama

Showers will pick up across the Carolinas tonight and continue through at least the first half of Saturday. Overall great weather for the Mother's Day weekend.

For tonight, ingredients are coming together for a continuation of scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Bottom line is most of the storm chances will occur at night into the morning hours with most afternoons dry so any outdoor plans you may have next week keep them and just stay tuned as we get closer we'll be able to have a better idea of timing. If we are going to see a steady (and at times heavy) rain, it would be later Saturday night and Sunday morning.
