YouTube TV is going live with channels from media companies including The Walt Disney Company (ABC, Disney Channel, ESPN), CBS Corporation (CBS, Showtime), 21st Century Fox (FOX, FS1, FX, FOX News Channel), and NBCUniversal (NBC, MSNBC, USA Network, Bravo). If you live in New York, Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay area, Philadelphia, or Chicago, you can sign-up for the $35 a month live TV bundle right now.

As more viewers are watching television from the comfort of their personal computers and fewer are paying for cable, Google is throwing their hat in the TV ring with YouTube TV, a subscription service that streams live broadcast programming directly to your favorite screen. The company says it will be adding more cities soon. Google wants to ensure everything is working properly before the masses can join the service and enjoy live video streaming from major television channels from any device.

YouTube TV initially offers about 40 channels to subscribers in five of the largest US markets. No official date for the inclusion of these new networks has been announced, but they will arrive "soon after launch". Your account will save all those shows for nine months before the oldest content is deleted, but that still gives you much more time than any other live TV-streaming service to catch up. More individual cities are planned before a nationwide rollout later this year. The service is also available on the web, iOS, and Android. AMC, BBC America, BBC World News, IFC, Sundance TV and We TV will be made available on the standard tier, and people will have the option of subscribing to Sundance Now or Shudder for an extra fee. Earlier this month, Turner CEO John Martin said YouTube was making a "big mistake" by omitting its networks, which include TNT, CNN, and TBS. There's also access to YouTube Red Originals included within the subscription.
