Manchester City have announced their side to play Romanian giants Steaua Bucharest in the first leg of their Champions League playoff round tie.

One of the more interesting matchups of the round is between English power Manchester City, newly led by Pep Guardiola, and Romanian elite Steaua Bucharest, who are hoping to catch City off-guard and cause a huge upset. City defeated Sunderland by a 2-1 scoreline in their opening game of the 2016-17 Premier League season last weekend.

"But I'm flattered to be up there with how much they paid for me".

Valentino Lazaro headed Salzburg ahead after a superb run by Wanderson just before the hour although Dinamo, Croatian champions for the last 11 seasons, levelled when Marko Rog won and converted a penalty.

Yaya Toure was also left watching at home in Manchester after being omitted for a second successive game and some pertinent questions over City's future make-up still need to be clarified.

He went on: "We stood on standby while the airport fire service investigated along with aircraft engineers".

City are 1/2 favourites to come back to England with a victory, with the draw out at 3/1.

"But we played really good, and when you win 5-0 in the Champions League against the best team in Romania, it's because you play very well".

It will be the second successive game the 33-year-old has missed after Guardiola omitted him from his matchday squad altogether for Saturday's win over Sunderland.

Earlier, Toure's agent said the midfielder plans to stay and fight for his place despite falling out of favour with the new City boss.

"(Toure) is training wonderful but I was not sure he was going to play so I would prefer him to stay in Manchester", Guardiola told reporters on Monday, explaining his decision to overlook the Ivory Coast worldwide.
